SLS BUCHAREST INTERMODAL TERMINAL has gone live with Navis Octopi by Kaleris in June 2024.
Navis Octopi by Kaleris is a cloud-based Terminal Operating System (TOS) that optimizes operations and increases the visibility of cargo movements for terminals and their customers. Designed to handle various cargo types, including containers and general cargo, the easy-to-use system has resulted in a smooth ramp-up process for the new terminal, streamlining yard planning, cargo tracking, and communication with carriers and other customers.
The results the terminal and its customers have experienced with Navis Octopi include:
- Accelerated train discharge thanks to simplified digital planning capabilities. Offsite planners can create a train plan in advance, providing the onsite team with readily available, accurate information to expedite their activities.
- Efficient coordination of reachstacker movements across their site.
- An enhanced experience for customers by providing visibility into the real-time location and status of their cargo, which customers can access directly through Octopi. The system also proactively emails delivery receipts from truck interchanges to customers once the activity is complete.
In this context, DSP - Data and System Planning, a technological Company specialized in Ports & Terminals Industry since 1986 and certified as a Kaleris implementation partner for its Navis brand solutions, has provided business process mapping, TOS selection support, gap analysis, systems configuration, and operational implementation support acting as a Solution Integrator for SLS.
“I want to thank everyone who contributed to the implementation of Octopi project. Octopi is not just a step forward in our digital evolution, but also a confirmation of our commitment to providing our customers with high-quality services characterized by promptness and reliability. This terminal operating system will enable more efficient management of freight flows, better communication among all parties involved, and optimized use of our resources.” Says Sorin Pangrate – SLS Terminal Manager.
